Tea time has been used for centuries as a moment to slow down, meet with friends or family, discuss business, or simply sit with oneself. Join us for this special collaboration with Fifth Street Studio to learn these functional wares and make your own teacup and saucer set. We’ll examine some styles, forms, and decorative motifs from 19th century pottery and look closely at some of the pieces in the Peel Museum collection.
This class is appropriate for beginners to pottery, ages 12 and up. Aprons will be provided, but it is a good idea to wear something you don’t mind getting messy! Class is 3 hours and begins with a brief presentation, with a short break in the middle. All materials provided. Finished pieces are to be picked up at 5th Street Studios.
Instructor: Alex DerGazarian of 5th Street Studios.
Participants are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the free museum and gardens to add to your inspiration before the workshop begins. Free quided museum tours are offered every hour or you can self-guide.
