The Alternative Board Northwest Arkansas gives business owners something most of them don't have: a room of peers with no stake in their company and no reason to flatter them.
Members sit on a confidential monthly advisory board with other local owners and work one-on-one with a private coach in between. Together they set strategy, work through the decisions that can't go to the team or the spouse, and hold each other to what they said they'd do.
There are three boards, each for a different seat. The Peer Advisory Board is the flagship: established owners, roughly $500K to $50M in revenue, who want ongoing outside counsel and a private thinking partner. Membership includes one-on-one coaching. The Accelerator Board is one focused year for earlier-stage and smaller businesses building the operating foundation; most owners graduate into a peer board afterward. The Key Executive Board is a 24-month, ground-up build of business acumen and leadership for whoever will run the business strategically - a successor, a second-in-command, or an owner who wants the system behind the instinct rather than ongoing counsel.
Alongside the boards: HI-MAP, the High Impact Manager Accelerator Program, which builds the skills of newly promoted and experienced managers, and StratPro, facilitated strategic planning that gets a whole leadership team behind one plan and then holds them to it.
DISC and Driving Forces assessments run through the work at every level - a detailed 50-to-60-page profile of how a person communicates and what motivates them, which gives a team a shared language for working with each other. They're also available on their own, for one person or as a team workshop.
